Petro Canada Lubricants (PCLI) sponsored driver James Hinchcliffe scored his fifth career win in the Verizon IndyCar Series this afternoon by winning the 43rd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. It’s also his second win with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.

The Oakville, Ontario native qualified fourth for the event best known as the Indianapolis 500 of street courses and quickly moved his way up to second at the start of the 85-lap contest. Quick pit stops and the right strategy calls moved Hinchcliffe and his Schmidt Peterson Motorsports No. 5 Arrow Electronics Honda to the front on lap 63, a lead Hinchliffe maintained for the final 22 laps.

"I’m so proud of these boys," noted the 30-year-old, who recorded his first win in the streets of Long Beach. "I’m proud of the team, Honda, everybody, just a phenomenal result. This racetrack has been so good to me over the years, I had my first Atlantic podium here, first Indy Lights win here, first IndyCar top five and my first IndyCar podium. It’s just always been one that I’ve wanted to be on top of. To finally get here is awesome."

"A special thank you to all of my supporters, particularly Petro-Canada Lubricants", said Hinchcliffe. "I am very proud of the partnership with PCLI, and to own the podium at Long Beach with their logo on my firesuit."

Next up on the calendar is the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park on April 23.
